History
The Chemistry Department was established in 1992 and provides undergraduate education through regular teaching. Our department was accredited within the scope of FEDEK in 2023. The undergraduate program is offered over 4 academic years and is designed to provide a good education for students who aim to pursue a master's and PhD degree, as well as those who wish to work in the industry. Students who graduate from the undergraduate program are awarded the title of “Chemistry Graduate.”
The Chemistry Department consists of four sub-disciplines: analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. Our academic staff conducts research in the above-mentioned areas, and most of the work is presented in national and international journals/conferences. The department also offers service courses to other faculties at Kütahya Dumlupınar University. The Chemistry Department laboratories are equipped with advanced instruments such as ICP-OES, AAS, UV-Visible Spectrometers, and Thermal Analysis, as well as basic laboratory equipment, including pH meters, automatic titrators, and ultra-pure water devices.
Students applying to this department must hold a high school diploma and have achieved a sufficient score on the centrally administered university entrance examination. The Chemistry undergraduate program is designed to provide students with a fundamental education in chemistry. In accordance with Provisional Article 74 of Higher Education Law No. 2547, the department has transitioned to the 7+1 education model, under which students participate in a professional training program during the eighth semester. To equip students with research skills, relevant courses were added to the four-year curriculum during the implementation of the 7+1 system.
Graduates with a degree in chemistry can work in many areas required by a wide range of industries and are generally employed in laboratory-based jobs. Chemistry graduates can also join research groups at universities and research institutes. After receiving the necessary trainingGraduates holding the title of Chemistry Graduate are qualified to work in numerous areas across diverse industrial sectors, typically in laboratory-focused roles. They may also participate in research groups within universities and research institutes. Upon acquiring the requisite training and competencies, educational institutions are another important area of employment.
