Regarding the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDYS) for the Start of the 2026-2027 Academic Year (September 8-11, 2026):

NOTE: A two-stage Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDYS) will be administered for students enrolling in the 2026-2027 Academic Year in departments with a Compulsory English Preparatory Class—whether via the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), lateral transfer, or the Foreign National Student Exam (YÖS)—to determine their eligibility for exemption from the Compulsory English Preparatory Class and allow them to begin their first-year studies directly.

NOTE: Students who do not take the Proficiency Exam or who fail the exam are required to attend the Compulsory English Preparatory Class Program for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

NOTE: Students enrolling in departments with a Compulsory English Preparatory Class for the 2026-2027 Academic Year do not need to apply to take the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDYS). NOTE: International students who have enrolled in departments with a Compulsory English Preparatory Class Program via the Foreign National Student Exam—and whose academic status is marked as "YDYO" (School of Foreign Languages) in the University’s Student Information System—may also take the exam to pass or be exempted from the Compulsory Preparatory Program. International students do not need to submit a separate application to take the exam. It is recommended that international students check their enrollment status for the Turkish Preparatory Program (conducted by TÖMER) and their academic status via the University’s Student Information System (ÖBS).

NOTE: Students who previously studied in the English Preparatory Class Program but failed must submit a written petition by 17:30 on Friday, August 28, 2026, if they wish to take the exam.
